Reunion News - DCHS '71 - Register Now! Over a 100?!? Hotel Hints.

Friends and classmates,

Just three weeks from tonight - our Reunion! Most folks on the East Coast have their power back on. For most, life is returning to normal. After the storm, we saw registrations pick back up! That is really good news! Speaking of news, here are this week's reunion headlines...

  • Reunion Deadline - mail your registration this weekend!
  • Over 100? Wow!
  • Need a Hotel? Some hints and suggestions?

Here are the details...

Reunion Deadline - This Weekend!

This is it! Get your registration in the mail this weekend! If you do, it should arrive in time for us to get the numbers right with the caterer.

When we call folks, we often hear either,

  • "Yep, I've got it sitting right here on the desk" or,
  • "I'm trying to get things worked out..."

If your registration is sitting right there on your desk, please don't forget to stick it in the mail this week. The bad news is we're really not going to be able to extend the deadline again.

If you're trying to get things worked out, let us know how we can help! The good news is we're working with folks who have extenuating circumstances. But if you don't let us know about yours, we can't help.

If that registration form isn't sitting on your desk, find one here... http://www.dchs71.com/rsvp

"How many folks are coming?"

That's the third thing we hear when we call. The big question. We've been wondering for months and it hasn't been easy to answer. But, it is looking like we could break 100! We are very, very happy with that! We've been planning to have a great time no matter what! But 100 folks? That's great!

And how do we come up with that number? As of yesterday, we have 78 registered and paid to attend. That's 49 classmates and 29 guests. And in making phone calls to you, 13 more have said they're planning to attend. Add their 6 or 7 guests and you have 97, maybe 98 attending. Can we break 100? Don't know. Shoot, we're afraid we'll jinx it just by talking about it. But, we'd love to see 100 folks at the reunion! Come join us!

How's that compare with past reunions? Don't know for sure, but take a look at this photo from our 25th. We think there are 48 classmates and Mr. Callahan in the photo. In three weeks, we know we'll be missing some old friends in this photo. But let's try to take a "picture to remember" with even more classmates! That's the "one other thing" we hear when we call, "we can't make it, but please take lots of pictures".

Again, come, join us! We want you all there! We want you in that picture!

Hotel Hints and Suggestions

Coming to the Reunion from out of town? Need a hotel for Friday or Saturday night? Although the reunion committee didn't make any deals with hotels, we learned some things looking around. Here are a few suggestions...

Recommendation: Some of our classmates have looked at the alternatives and have chosen to stay at the Hyatt Place in the Greenbrier area. Advantages? It is midway between the events and close to shopping at the Greenbrier Mall. Hyatt Place is a clean and very modern chain. Rooms are very contemporary. As of this writing, rooms are available from $111/night (prepaid).

Some other alternatives we considered to be good choices can be found on the web site... http://www.dchs71.com/hotels

Other Stuff

We'll be on the phone today and tomorrow, trying to reach a few more of you. You know what we want to hear when we call? First, it's' "I'm doing well." Then it's "The registration is in the mail."

Save us a little time - avoid our nagging phone calls. When you mail that registration, give us a call, send us a note, and let us know it is on the way. Thanks!

And thanks to all of you who have registered, helped us find a classmate or just let us know how you're doing. We've really enjoyed catching up with you!

We hope to see you at the Reunion!
